Tata Sons carry out major Air India senior management reshuffle

Tata Sons has carried out a major management reshuffle at Air India, the PTI news agency reported on Friday.

Group chairman N Chandrasekaran issued the order, under which Air India veterans RS Sandhu and Vinod Hejmadi were reappointed as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Meanwhile, Nipun Aggarwal has been appointed as Commercial Director and Suresh Dutt Tripathi as Human Resources Director.

Aggarwal, who is also senior vice president of Tata Sons, replaces Air India veteran Meenakshi Malik, while Tripathi, who was vice president of human resources at Tata Steel from 2012 to 2021, succeeds Amrita Sharan from HAVE.

Malik and Sharan were appointed advisers to the CEO of Air India on Friday. The Tata group has not yet appointed the CEO of Air India, Malik and Sharan will currently advise Chandrasekaran.

After a tender process, the government sold Air India on October 8 to Talace Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Tata group holding company, for 18,000 crore.

Tata Sons last month appointed N Chandrasekaran as chairman of Air India, the airline which was acquired by Tata Group from the central government last year.

Air India had earlier announced that former Turkish Airlines boss Ilker Ayci had turned down the top job despite being named the airline’s CEO. Ayci – who has overseen major cost cuts at Turkish Airlines – was chosen as the debt-ridden carrier’s first foreign CEO in mid-February after the Tata Group bought him from the government after 69 years of ownership. ‘State.

Satya Ramaswamy, who previously worked at Tata Consultancy Services, has been appointed chief digital and technology officer at Air India.

Rajesh Dogra has been appointed head of customer experience and ground management at Air India, he said.

“The new appointees will exercise the powers of functional/departmental heads in accordance with the delegation of authority. We wish them all the best in their new role,” Chandrasekaran said in the order.
