New Delhi, March 3: Many Indian students are still stranded in Ukraine and the problem lies in the war-torn east of the country, where those stranded need help, said an evacuee who arrived in Mumbai on Thursday, according to the news agency. PTI.

A flight from Bucharest carrying 183 Indians, including a baby, stranded in Ukraine landed here in the morning, officials said.

Union Minister Raosaheb Danve greeted the passengers as soon as Air India Express flight IX 1202 landed here around 5.30am.

The eastern part of Ukraine has faced brutal Russian aggression.

After landing here on Thursday, one of the students said, “The problem is in the eastern part and the people (students) there need help.

Another student said that while she managed to cross the (Ukrainian) border, many students were still stranded.

“So I pray they get out of there too,” she said.

It was difficult to get a flight. Students weren’t getting flights, but the Indian embassy helped us with that, she added.

Meanwhile, Danve said around 4,000 to 5,000 Indians have been brought back from Ukraine so far and the operation will continue to bring back those still stranded there.

Maharashtra Minister Vijay Wadettiwar last week said around 1,200 students from the state were believed to be stranded in war-hit Ukraine.
