Belize and Taiwan sign air services agreement

By BBN staff: On September 28, 2020, Manuel Heredia, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation of Belize, signed an air services agreement between the governments of Belize and Taiwan.

Earlier today, Taiwan’s Transport and Communications Minister Lin Chia-lung signed the Accord in Taipei, Taiwan on behalf of Taiwan.

Remus Li-Kuo Chen, Taiwanese Ambassador to Belize was present at the Laing Building in Belize City to witness the signing of the Accord by Belize.

The government notes that negotiations for this agreement, by the civil aviation authorities of the two countries, began in 2019 and ended in February 2020, as part of a series of bilateral initiatives to commemorate the 30th anniversary. diplomatic relations between Belize and Taiwan.

The agreement was signed with the aim of strategically expanding each country’s air connectivity and consolidating a mutually beneficial partnership in aviation, travel and trade between Belize and Taiwan.

Over the past 10 years, Belize has experienced a 60% growth in its regional and international air connectivity, which has been one of the central factors in the unequivocal growth of its tourism sector.

To date, Belize has signed a number of similar agreements with countries such as the United States of America, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Honduras.
