Policy Times Dhaka office (June 8):
The Air Services Agreement (ASA) Between Bangladesh and Austria was signed in Vienna yesterday (07 June 2021). Bangladeshi Ambassador to Austria Muhammad Abdul Muhith and ambassador Andreas Riecken of the Austrian Ministry of European and International Affairs signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.
The ASA between Bangladesh and Austria is expected to not only boost aviation activity in both countries, but also increase business-to-business and people-to-people connectivity. It is hoped that the agreement will help make Vienna a regional hub for Central, Eastern and Northern European countries, including Scandinavia, thanks to its unique location, for transporting goods and passengers between Bangladesh and the region. In particular, the two countries expect this agreement to speed up the process of passenger and cargo flights to and from Dhaka in the near future and expand business opportunities between the two countries.
